Bridge & Burn has joined forces with Portland powerhouse independent radio station, XRAY.fm, to deliver your February playlist. This Valentine’s Day edition was cooked up by Aaron Hall, XRAY.fm’s Music Director and the co-owner of Dig A Pony, who you’ll also find occasionally presiding over dance floors as DJ Hanukkah Miracle.
This set turns out soulful, tenderly bluesy tracks by Magic Sam, Richard Swift, Marcia Griffiths, and The Invincibles, to name just a few, seamlessly blending deep-cut classics with newer jams. To sweeten the deal, we also tapped Portland designer/illustrator/art director Tom O’Toole to create this month’s amazing cover art, a Southwestern-style homage to the beauty, pain, and self-medication love inspires.
By day, O'Toole is an Art Director at Kamp Grizzly, and in the evenings and weekends he toils away on projects for all sorts of clientele in a studio that he shares with his Art Gang, which collectively goes by the name of Pizza Friday. His versatile design aesthetic and humorous, organic illustration has been finely honed by over 10 years of "winging it", and has been contracted by the likes of Nike, Vans, Urban Outfitters, and Adidas.
