Garment Measurements

Garment measurements are provided for every style on our website  (visible by clicking on the Style Guide tool on the product pages). The best way to read these numbers is to compare them to your favorite clothing you already own.

Start with a Favorite Piece You Own

Choose a garment (shirt, jacket, pants, etc.) from your closet that fits you well and feels comfortable.

Lay It Flat on a Smooth Surface

Zip or button it up if needed, and smooth out any wrinkles without stretching the fabric.

Measure Key Points

Using a soft measuring tape, measure and record the key points as shown below.

Shirts/Jackets/Sweaters

Chest: pit to pit

Front Length: top of shoulder to hem

Waist: narrowest point under chest

Sweep: straight across bottom hem

Pants/Shorts/Skirts

Waist: across the top

Front Rise: crotch to waistband

Hip: widest point across

Inseam: crotch to hem

Match your numbers with the size guide and specific item measurements—not just the size label.

Consider the Garment's Shape & Style

Look for notes like slim, boxy, or relaxed fit—each affects how the garment sits on your body, from tailored to loose and laid-back.

If Between Sizes, Check the Fit Notes and Reviews

We often note if something runs large, small, or true to size—this can guide your decision if you’re in between measurements.

Body Measurements

The measurements on our size chart are reflective of the body size that we intend for the garment to fit—that said, every body is different. If you are between sizes, or your measurements are split between multiple sizes, there are a few things to consider:

  •  For styles that specify fitted at waist, choose the size that is closest to your waist measurement
  •  For styles that specify boxy fit, choose the size based on the widest part of your body
  •  If you are curvy or hourglass, pick the pants size closest to your hip measurement
  •  If you are straight through the waist and hips, pick the pants size closest to your waist measurement
